Piece by Piece

A short story novella collecting thirty-one tales detailing the experiences, circumstances and actions of a group of people. they touch each other’s lives and intertwine in important and unexpected ways, building a picture beyond their singular stories. Piece by piece, we come to understand, sympathise, and in some cases, satisfyingly appreciate when things go wrong for our group. Sometimes, wrong is right.

Caroline knows a lot of people and has many interests. They may lead her down an unexpected path. Lisa likes routine in her life and Kieron is growing up, sometimes it comes sooner than we expect. Debs and Warren are linked in a way neither of them foresee and Charlie and Kim love having dinner guests. The people they meet, the things they do, will change their lives forever.

Enveloping Darkness

Enveloping Darkness combines the first three ‘Dark’ story collections by Cameron Black in one volume. And adds a further twelve pieces to the collection in this last entry in the series. Thirty-nine short stories to keep you company as the nights grow darker and winter approaches. Each designed to send a slight shiver or a sense of unease without going too far into the darkness.

People in difficulties and difficult people, some aren’t what they seem and others do what you least expect. Their lives will be changed by the enveloping darkness and not always for the better. At least the darkness is confined to the pages. Unless you too hear the whispering from the shadows, of course.

Not suitable for an immature audience as some of the subject matter, language and content, whilst not overly graphic, do contain instances of violence and themes of an adult nature. please bear this in mind, if a young adult reader.

The Dark Touch

Just the right length for a quick read before snuggling down in a cosy bed. As the nights grow darker and winter comes closer, eleven short stories to send a slight shiver without going too far into the darkness.

As with all the Dark Tales, there are people in difficulties and difficult people. Places that haunt and people that hunt. Like or loathe the dark characters, they are like everyone else, just getting by. Remember, “sometimes, needs must!” (Prey)

Not suitable for an immature audience as some of the subject matter and content, whilst not overly graphic, does contain instances of violence and themes of an adult nature. Please bear this in mind, if a young adult reader.

Shadow Whispers

Just the right length for a quick read before snuggling down in a cosy bed. As the nights grow darker and winter comes closer, eight short stories to send a slight shiver without going too far into the darkness.

Some people aren’t what they seem and others do what you least expect. But in these tales at least you know the unexpected is confined to the pages. You do know that, don’t you?  You can be sure of it, unless you hear the whispering from the shadows, of course.

Not too graphic, adult or dark in content or subject matter, so more suitable for young adult readers than the ‘Dark Embrace’ series of short stories that are also available.

A Dark Embrace

Just the right length for a quick read before snuggling down in a cosy bed. As the nights grow darker and winter comes closer, eight short stories to send a slight shiver without going too far into the darkness.

There are people in love, starting new lives or facing some difficult times. The one thing the characters have in common is that their lives will definitely change and not always for the better, when embraced by the dark.

Not too graphic or adult, but these tales have content and deal with subject matter of a slightly darker nature than ‘Shadow Whispers’. Please bear this in mind, if a young adult reader.
